Panagia Skopiani, is an Orthodox Chapel dedicated to Mary, nestled between the villages of Kallitsos and Platis Gialos. It’s located on Skopi area, from where it derives its name. One can find it quite easily, since it’s close to the main roadway.

Οne can visit the courtyard area daily, making a stop and admire the landscape. Due to it being high in the mountain, it offers a view of the nearby islands as well. Kythnos, Syros, Paros are spotted easily enough and if the weather allows it, then one can see as far as Evia, Andros, Tinos and Mikonos.

On August 15th, Dekapentavgoustos, one of the most important dates in the Greek Orthodox Calendar, as the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos is when it’s celebrating. People from around the island are gathered to the service, and later enjoy traditional food and live music.

Next to it there is a smaller chapel dedicated on Saint Irene.
